Description

Angel Food Cake Churro Bites are crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside treats made by frying cubes of angel food cake and tossing them in cinnamon sugar. A quick and delightful dessert or snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought or homemade angel food cake
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Optional: chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut angel food cake into 1 to 1.5-inch cubes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Heat about 1 to 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep saucepan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Working in batches, fry cake cubes for 30–60 seconds per side or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  5. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain briefly on paper towels.
  6. While still warm, toss the fried cake cubes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use day-old angel food cake for easier slicing and better frying texture.
  • Monitor oil temperature to avoid burning or soggy bites.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, as they lose crispiness over time.
