Description
Angel Food Cake Churro Bites are crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside treats made by frying cubes of angel food cake and tossing them in cinnamon sugar. A quick and delightful dessert or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 store-bought or homemade angel food cake
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Optional: chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Cut angel food cake into 1 to 1.5-inch cubes.
- In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Heat about 1 to 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep saucepan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Working in batches, fry cake cubes for 30–60 seconds per side or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain briefly on paper towels.
- While still warm, toss the fried cake cubes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
- Serve warm, optionally with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Use day-old angel food cake for easier slicing and better frying texture.
- Monitor oil temperature to avoid burning or soggy bites.
- Best enjoyed fresh, as they lose crispiness over time.
