A hearty and comforting casserole made with tender ground beef, noodles, and a creamy sauce, baked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add the diced onion and garlic to the beef and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the onion is softened.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, sour cream, milk, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Pour the beef mixture over the noodle mixture and stir to combine.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of spice.
- Try adding vegetables like peas or bell peppers to the casserole for added nutrition.
- Can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving.
