Description

A hearty and comforting casserole made with tender ground beef, noodles, and a creamy sauce, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  3. Add the diced onion and garlic to the beef and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the onion is softened.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, sour cream, milk, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Pour the beef mixture over the noodle mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of spice.
  • Try adding vegetables like peas or bell peppers to the casserole for added nutrition.
  • Can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving.
