Scale
- 1 1/2 lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
- 3 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add beef tips and brown on all sides, about 5–7 minutes. Work in batches if necessary.
- Remove beef and set aside. In the same pan, add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Return beef to the pan. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until beef is tender.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Stir the slurry into the beef mixture and cook for another 3–5 minutes, until the gravy thickens.
- Serve hot over cooked white rice and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use a splash of red wine when browning the beef.
- This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables or a green salad.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days and reheat well.
