Description

Best Chicken Parmesan is a classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with rich marinara sauce and melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, baked to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (for frying)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet or baking dish with foil and lightly grease it.
  2. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano in a third.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken breasts for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to prepared baking dish.
  6. Spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast and sprinkle evenly with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until chicken is cooked through (165°F/74°C) and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with chopped basil or parsley and serve hot over pasta or with a side salad.
