Description

Cheesy Chicken Casserole is a comforting and hearty baked dish loaded with tender chicken, creamy sauce, and melted cheese. It’s perfect for family dinners and great for making ahead or feeding a crowd.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup crushed Ritz crackers or breadcrumbs (optional topping)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Stir in the shredded chicken, cooked pasta, cheddar cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  6. In a small bowl, mix crushed crackers or breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole (if using).
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken to save time.
  • Add vegetables like peas, broccoli, or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
  • Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking.
