- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix cooked pasta, shredded chicken, and marinara sauce until well combined.
- Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top evenly with mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
- In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs, olive oil, garlic powder, and dried basil.
- Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture over the top of the casserole.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the casserole is bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Add crushed red pepper for a spicier version.
- This dish freezes well for make-ahead meals.
