Ingredients
Batter:
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Other:
- 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
- Wooden skewers
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat milk, egg, and vegetable oil until combined.
- Combine and Dip: Pour wet ingredients into the dry mix and stir until smooth. Insert skewers into hot dogs. Heat oil to 350°F, dip hot dogs in batter, and fry until golden.
- Serve: Drain on paper towels and serve warm with preferred condiments.

- For extra crunch, dust hot dogs with flour before dipping.
