Units
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken pieces with buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best flavor).
- Set up a dredging station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat (350°F or 175°C).
- Remove chicken from marinade. Dredge each piece in flour, dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Fry chicken nuggets in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- Use an air fryer for a healthier version—spray nuggets with oil and cook at 400°F for 10–12 minutes.
- You can freeze the breaded, uncooked nuggets for later use.
- Add grated Parmesan to the breadcrumb mix for extra flavor.
