Description

This Decadent Black Forest Cheesecake is a luxurious dessert combining rich chocolate cheesecake with sweet-tart cherries and a chocolate cookie crust. Finished with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, it’s a stunning treat for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 24 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for topping)
  • Chocolate shavings or curls (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add cocoa powder and mix well.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating on low speed. Mix in vanilla and sour cream.
  5. Stir in melted chocolate until fully incorporated. Pour batter over crust.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until the center is set and only slightly jiggles. Turn off oven and let cheesecake cool inside with door slightly open for 1 hour.
  7. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
  8. Before serving, top with cherry pie filling.
  9. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Pipe or dollop on top.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
  • Place a pan of water in the oven to help prevent cracking.
  • Fresh or homemade cherry compote can replace pie filling.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
