Description

This dry rub for ribs is a flavorful blend of spices that creates a delicious crust when baked in the oven—perfect for tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs without a grill or smoker.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs if not already done.
  3. Mix all dry rub ingredients together in a bowl until well combined.
  4. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels, then rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  5. Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and cooked through.
  7. Optional: Unwrap, brush with BBQ sauce, and broil for 3–5 minutes to caramelize.

Notes

  • Store leftover dry rub in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
  • This rub works well on pork or beef ribs.
  • Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing for best results.
