Description

Easy Butterscotch Sauce is a rich, buttery, and sweet dessert topping made with just a few simple ingredients. Perfect for drizzling over ice cream, cakes, pancakes, or stirring into coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add brown sugar and stir until fully combined and bubbling, about 2 minutes.
  3. Slowly stir in the heavy cream and continue to cook, stirring constantly, for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving. Sauce will thicken more as it cools.

Notes

  • Use dark brown sugar for a deeper molasses flavor.
  • Store leftovers in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks; reheat gently before using.
  • Add a splash of bourbon or rum for an adult twist.
