Description
Easy Churro Bites are bite-sized versions of the classic Mexican treat, made with a quick dough, fried until golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar for a crisp, sweet indulgence.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla until smooth and thick.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 1-inch pieces of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors.
- Fry in batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Immediately roll warm churro bites in cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Serve warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche, if desired.
Notes
- Let dough cool slightly before adding eggs to prevent scrambling.
- Use a star tip for traditional churro ridges and texture.
- Don’t overcrowd the pot to ensure even frying.
