Description

Easy Churro Bites are bite-sized versions of the classic Mexican treat, made with a quick dough, fried until golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar for a crisp, sweet indulgence.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla until smooth and thick.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 1-inch pieces of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors.
  6. Fry in batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Immediately roll warm churro bites in cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Serve warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche, if desired.

Notes

  • Let dough cool slightly before adding eggs to prevent scrambling.
  • Use a star tip for traditional churro ridges and texture.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pot to ensure even frying.
