Description

Easy Meat Sauce is a rich and savory tomato-based sauce made with ground beef, garlic, onions, and herbs. Perfect for serving over pasta, layering in lasagna, or freezing for quick weeknight meals.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and sugar if using. Stir to combine.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and flavors develop.
  7. Serve over pasta or use in your favorite Italian dishes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
