Description
French Toast Sticks are a fun and easy twist on classic French toast, cut into strips for easy dipping. Perfect for breakfast or brunch, especially for kids and on-the-go mornings.
Ingredients
- 6 slices thick-cut bread (like Texas toast or brioche)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Butter or oil for frying
- Maple syrup or powdered sugar, for serving
Instructions
- Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 even strips.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar (if using), and salt.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil.
- Dip the bread sticks into the egg mixture, coating both sides well but not soaking too long.
- Cook in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes
- Use day-old or slightly stale bread for best texture.
- Freeze cooked sticks for later and reheat in the oven or toaster.
- Try adding a dash of nutmeg or using flavored creamers for variety.
