Description

French Toast Sticks are a fun and easy twist on classic French toast, cut into strips for easy dipping. Perfect for breakfast or brunch, especially for kids and on-the-go mornings.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices thick-cut bread (like Texas toast or brioche)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 even strips.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar (if using), and salt.
  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil.
  4. Dip the bread sticks into the egg mixture, coating both sides well but not soaking too long.
  5. Cook in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Use day-old or slightly stale bread for best texture.
  • Freeze cooked sticks for later and reheat in the oven or toaster.
  • Try adding a dash of nutmeg or using flavored creamers for variety.
