Description

Honey Bun Cake is a moist, cinnamon-swirled cake with a sweet glaze, inspired by the classic honey bun pastry. It’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil until smooth and well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the batter.
  5. Pour the remaining batter on top and gently swirl with a knife.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cake bakes, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
  8. Remove the cake from the oven and immediately pour the glaze over the hot cake.
  9. Let the cake cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • The glaze soaks in better when poured over the cake while it’s still hot.
  • Can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
