Description
Honey Bun Cake is a moist, cinnamon-swirled cake with a sweet glaze, inspired by the classic honey bun pastry. It’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the batter.
- Pour the remaining batter on top and gently swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
- Remove the cake from the oven and immediately pour the glaze over the hot cake.
- Let the cake cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- The glaze soaks in better when poured over the cake while it’s still hot.
- Can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
