- Salt, to taste
- Water, as needed for desired consistency
- Olive oil, for garnish (optional)
- Paprika, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt.
- Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary.
- If the hummus is too thick, add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving dish and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika if desired.
- Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or crackers.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, you can peel the chickpeas before blending.
- You can add roasted red pepper or fresh herbs like parsley for additional flavor variations.
- Hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
