Description

Monte Cristo sliders are a mini, sweet-and-savory take on the classic sandwich, made with ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, and Hawaiian rolls, baked and dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half
  • 6 slices deli ham
  • 6 slices deli turkey
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Raspberry preserves for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in the baking dish.
  3. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise and/or Dijon mustard on the rolls, if using.
  4. Layer ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese evenly over the rolls. Cover with the top halves.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Pour evenly over the sliders.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes until tops are golden.
  8. Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving. Serve with raspberry preserves if desired.

Notes

  • Use thick-sliced meat and cheese for a more substantial slider.
  • You can assemble sliders ahead and refrigerate overnight before baking.
  • For a crispier bottom, bake uncovered for the last few minutes.
