Description

Patriotic Jello Cookies are soft, colorful sugar cookies infused with fruity gelatin flavors and decorated with red, white, and blue hues. These easy and fun cookies are perfect for celebrating the 4th of July with kids and family.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 package (3 oz) red Jello (strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 package (3 oz) blue Jello (berry blue)
  • Extra red and blue Jello powder for rolling (optional)
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  4. Divide dough evenly into two bowls. Add red Jello powder to one and blue Jello powder to the other. Mix until colors and flavors are fully incorporated.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Optionally, roll in extra dry Jello powder or sprinkles for extra color and texture.
  6. Place on baking sheets about 2 inches apart and slightly flatten each ball.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes or until edges are just set. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Do not overbake—cookies should remain soft.
  • You can swirl the two doughs together for a marbled effect.
  • Chill dough for 15–30 minutes if it becomes too sticky.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
