Description

Philly Cheese Beef Skillet is a quick and hearty one-pan meal inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak. Made with seasoned ground beef, peppers, onions, and melty cheese, it’s a delicious low-carb option or can be served over rice, pasta, or on a hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced peppers and onions, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add the garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika to the beef. Stir well to combine and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Return the sautéed peppers and onions to the skillet with the beef. Stir to mix evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet with a lid and let sit for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot as-is, or over rice, pasta, or hoagie rolls for a classic Philly-style meal.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Feel free to add mushrooms for more flavor and texture.
  • This dish is great for meal prep and reheats well for lunches throughout the week.
