Description
Red, White and Blue Rice Krispie Treats are a patriotic twist on the classic no-bake dessert, made with colorful layers of marshmallow cereal and decorated with festive sprinkles—perfect for 4th of July parties and picnics.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (divided)
- 6 cups mini marshmallows (divided)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Patriotic sprinkles (optional)
- Nonstick cooking spray or parchment paper
Instructions
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan or line with parchment paper.
- For the red layer: In a saucepan, melt 1 1/3 tbsp butter over low heat. Add 2 cups mini marshmallows and stir until melted. Stir in red food coloring. Add 2 cups Rice Krispies and mix until coated. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- For the white layer: Repeat the process with 1 1/3 tbsp butter and 2 cups marshmallows (no coloring), then mix with 2 cups cereal. Press gently over the red layer.
- For the blue layer: Repeat again with the remaining butter, marshmallows, and cereal. Stir in blue food coloring before adding cereal. Press on top of white layer.
- Sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles if desired. Let cool completely, then slice and serve.
Notes
- Use wax paper or a greased spatula to press layers without sticking.
- Add a few drops of vanilla extract to each layer for enhanced flavor.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
- Cut into stars or flag shapes for added festivity.
