Description

Red, White and Blue Rice Krispie Treats are a patriotic twist on the classic no-bake dessert, made with colorful layers of marshmallow cereal and decorated with festive sprinkles—perfect for 4th of July parties and picnics.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (divided)
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows (divided)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Patriotic sprinkles (optional)
  • Nonstick cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. For the red layer: In a saucepan, melt 1 1/3 tbsp butter over low heat. Add 2 cups mini marshmallows and stir until melted. Stir in red food coloring. Add 2 cups Rice Krispies and mix until coated. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. For the white layer: Repeat the process with 1 1/3 tbsp butter and 2 cups marshmallows (no coloring), then mix with 2 cups cereal. Press gently over the red layer.
  4. For the blue layer: Repeat again with the remaining butter, marshmallows, and cereal. Stir in blue food coloring before adding cereal. Press on top of white layer.
  5. Sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles if desired. Let cool completely, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • Use wax paper or a greased spatula to press layers without sticking.
  • Add a few drops of vanilla extract to each layer for enhanced flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
  • Cut into stars or flag shapes for added festivity.
