Description
Red, White & Blue Cake Pops are festive bite-sized treats made from crumbled cake mixed with frosting, shaped into balls, and coated in patriotic-colored candy melts—perfect for Fourth of July parties and celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 box (15.25 oz) white cake mix (plus ingredients on box)
- 1/2 cup vanilla frosting
- Red candy melts
- White candy melts
- Blue candy melts
- Sprinkles (red, white, and blue)
- Lollipop sticks
Instructions
- Prepare and bake the cake according to package directions. Let it cool completely.
- Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl.
- Mix in vanilla frosting gradually until the mixture holds together like dough.
- Roll into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill in the refrigerator or freezer for 30 minutes.
- Melt the candy melts according to package directions in separate bowls for each color.
- Dip one end of each lollipop stick into melted candy, then insert into cake balls. Chill again briefly to set.
- Dip each cake pop into desired color of melted candy, letting the excess drip off.
- Decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles before the coating sets.
- Place upright in a styrofoam block or cake pop stand to dry completely.
Notes
- Chill cake pops before dipping to prevent them from falling apart.
- If coating is too thick, add a small amount of shortening to thin it.
- Use a spoon to help cover cake pops evenly with candy coating.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
