Description
Sautéed Green Beans are a quick, healthy, and flavorful side dish made with fresh green beans, garlic, and a touch of lemon. Perfect for complementing any meal from weeknight dinners to holiday feasts.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and blanch for 2–3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add blanched green beans, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Sauté for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until green beans are tender-crisp.
- Remove from heat and drizzle with lemon juice if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Skip the blanching step for extra-crispy beans—just sauté a few minutes longer.
- Add sliced almonds or grated Parmesan for extra flavor and texture.
- Use steamed or microwaved green beans for a quicker version.
