Description

Sautéed Green Beans are a quick, healthy, and flavorful side dish made with fresh green beans, garlic, and a touch of lemon. Perfect for complementing any meal from weeknight dinners to holiday feasts.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and blanch for 2–3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add blanched green beans, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Sauté for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until green beans are tender-crisp.
  5. Remove from heat and drizzle with lemon juice if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Skip the blanching step for extra-crispy beans—just sauté a few minutes longer.
  • Add sliced almonds or grated Parmesan for extra flavor and texture.
  • Use steamed or microwaved green beans for a quicker version.
