Description
Strawberry Mousse is a light and airy dessert made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and a hint of gelatin. It’s perfect for warm weather and can be served in cups or layered in cakes.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Fresh strawberry slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a blender or food processor, purée the strawberries with granulated sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
- In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes.
- Gently heat the gelatin mixture until dissolved, then stir into the strawberry purée. Let cool to room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the cooled strawberry mixture into the whipped cream gently until fully combined.
- Spoon the mousse into serving cups and chill for at least 2 hours or until set.
- Garnish with strawberry slices before serving if desired.
Notes
- Make sure the strawberry purée is completely cool before folding into the whipped cream.
- You can substitute frozen strawberries (thawed and drained) if fresh are not available.
- For a smoother texture, strain the purée before mixing in gelatin.
